Ski Pole Size Guide

Ski Poles help your balance while skiing. Proper pole planting helps initiate turns and maintain form. They are also really handy to help push when the terrain is too flat to glide (which is typically the case in lift lines).

There are several methods to determine height.

Skiers may prefer longer or shorter lengths.

Ski Pole Length Measurement

A precise method to determine proper pole length is to do a body measurement. The graphic below illustrates how this is done.

Ski Pole Upside Down Test

An alternative to measuring, if you are at the store, is to test to see if the pole is the correct length by turning it upside down and hold them under the basket. If the poles are the correct length, your elbow will be at a 90 degree angle.
